In my earlier post, I shared my reservations about getting Si Dian Jin for my dowry. I was terrified they would look gaudy on my wedding gown!

But you know what, that mindset was based on my exposure to Si Dian Jin from watching period dramas. And boy, was I in for a surprise when Goldheart Jewelry presented their interpretation of Si Dian Jin.

Here’s what I have come to understand in my wedding journey with Goldheart: Si Dian Jin is a symbolism of MIL’s gesture to reassure that I will be taken care of throughout my marriage. My MIL wanted to gift me Si Dian Jin as part of tradition, while at the same time, she wanted me to pick a design that I would be proud to wear for the wedding (and, I believe, even after to demonstrate my appreciation for her gift). This is going to be a win-win situation with Goldheart’s MODE GOLD 916 Si Dian Jin.

I know my taste for jewellery designs I’d be wearing on a daily basis, so it was a cinch in picking out my Si Dian Jin set. My taste in jewellery can be defined as modern minimalist, versatile and nothing that looks obiang… so check, check and check – Goldheart has got them all!

Just like the process of picking out the wedding bands, identifying and trying Si Dian Jin designs was an enjoyable session. In fact, it opened up new ideas and inspirations for future stylish ensembles … and I caught myself wondering if we can actually push past “Si”, if you catch my drift. The Si Dian Jin designs are made and designed in Italy, and I must say they are definitely on point for looking contemporary and so easy to accessorise with!

For those of you who are new to Si Dian Jin, it literally means “four touches of gold”. It is also a figurative for “four corners of a roof”, which is an expression to mean that the bride is promised security by having a roof over her head in the groom’s family. The “four touches of gold” corresponds to a necklace, a ring, a bangle and a pair of earrings.

First few designs that I tried on and it is SPELLS ME!!! Minimalist with a touch of details perfect to accentuate (virtually all) my outfits!

Oh, and this collection design comes in a ring, dangling earrings and a long necklace too!

 

This man made a joke that made me giggle. I kinda forgot what he said but lol this was my reaction! But I certainly remembered how perfect the ring looked on my finger!

And, OMG, this piece is so pretty! Can you believe this is even a part of a Si Dian Jin collection?

There is always joy and laughter when I’m with him, which I believe made this session incredibly effortless and memorable as one of our many milestones of my lives together!

And the next design has a dressier, nature-theme look with its the butterfly motifs. Although I didn’t pick this design ultimately, I wanted to show this in order to give you an idea of the range of designs that MODE GOLD 916 Si Dian Jin is capable of. I wasn’t the only one shopping! This design caught Hao’s eyes and he suggested it for me. However, my intention was to own a SI Dian Jin that I can wear on a daily basis; personally, I felt this design may be too “dressy” for my wardrobe to be worn regularly.

I guess for most brides-to-be, she would hold dear to her heart the careful process of picking out wedding bands and SI Dian Jin designs. After all, this is an investment that she would want to wear for a long time after her wedding!

Well, I’m getting married come 31 August and so I had also gone through this process. There are two parts to my story that I shall share. In Part 1, I shall talk about the importance of shopping in a conducive environment, and in Part 2, I shall take you through my journey in choosing my Si Dian Jin design.

In particular, I’m delighted by the lounge area – where the wedding bands counter is located – as it provides cosy high-back sofas that offered us a degree of privacy as we browse the extensive collection at our pace.

The customer service staff who attended to us was very patient and took time to listen to our needs and wants, and did not hesitate to present a variety of options for us to inspect. The entire session was unhurried and enjoyable, and I did not feel any pressure to decide on my purchase even as more customers start to pour into the store. This really put me at ease to make up my mind.

I did finally pick our wedding bands from the Felicité collection. I know you are curious about the design I chose, and I promise I will reveal the designs at a later date!

We tried on the different wedding bands designs before I picked an eternity ring from the Felicité Collection. This is because I intend to stack the wedding band with my engagement ring, and I found the perfect fit in terms of design. The staff was very nice to “loan” me a solitaire ring that closely resembled mine (which I kept safely at home), so that I can visualise how the Felicité would look when placed together.

I have always envisioned my Guo Da Li(过大礼) to be an ultra simple affair, where we simply exchange Pin Jin(聘金) and … we are done!

But, as I soon discovered, Guo Da Li is more than that – it is a symbolic ceremony where a particular gift takes centrestage: Si Dian Jin(四点金).

Even today, Chinese families continue to place emphasis on traditions to mark life’s significant milestones, such as weddings. Naturally, my MIL requests for this ceremony as it is a happy occasion. And, being the first daughter to be “married off” in my family, I naturally became the torch bearer to fulfil this tradition.

 

Guo Da Liis a betrothal ceremony that involves the exchange of gift where the groom’s family brings traditional hampers to the bride’s family. Of all the gifts, the most significant one will be the Si Dian Jin, which the groom’s mother will present to the new daughter-in-law.

 

Literally meaning “four touches of gold”, Si Dian Jinis also a figurative for “four corners of a roof”, which is an expression to mean that the bride is promised security by having a roof over her head in the groom’s family. The “four touches of gold” corresponds to a necklace, a ring, a bangle and a pair of earrings.

 

Gold was, and remains, a valuable investment and asset. By giving Si Dian Jinto the bride, it is the MIL’s indirect way of saying that she will be taken care of throughout her marriage. This gesture, orchestrated in a ceremonial form, “officiates” my acceptance into the groom’s family and marks another milestone in my life.

Growing up, my impression of Si Dian Jinwas shaped from watching period dramas. Unfortunately to me, they just look … obiang, gaudy and massive. I knew then that I’d never be caught dead wearing in those things!

I am sure many of you have heard about this highly raved Coco & Eve hair masque product that was aggressively advertised on many social media platforms like ig stories, facebook and youtube.

It was sooo convincing that I finally got my hands on these!!!

One downside about this product is…..

The packaging was way too inconvenient for me to bring overseas though it means that the huge tub of product gives you a bang for the buck (but I brought the whole tub to Japan nevertheless).

First tried the product when I was back from a job that had the makeup artists  spraying hair spray on my poor hair as though hair spray were free.

 

Untied and tried to make it look as though they were pretty curls but…..

In reality, it looks ugly.

Time for the treatment!!!

The texture? Like a regular hair mask, but it smells splendid. Pack full of coconut goodness and it smells like a dessert, think bobochacha.

Tied my hair into a low bun after massaging the product all over my abused tresses.

This Coco & Eve detangler that came with the packaging were super handy. Having badly tangled tresses from the hair spray, this detangler helps me spread the product evenly and also detangle at the same time! God sent!!!

Had the hair mask on for 10 mins and voila….

SAVIOUR!!!!!!

My hair looked as though it just went to the salon for an intensive treatment but no… it was Coco & Eve! That is an impressive transformation isn’t it!?

Was cracking my brains on how to throw a party for Hao’s big 3 because my original plan for a birthday party at Macdonalds was foiled big time. Unfortunately, his birthday falls on a PH, hence every Macdonalds party location was booked.

Ruled out a venue party because I found it a hassle to coordinate and I didn’t quite like any of the party venues I have researched.

Asked around and came up with a yacht party.

It was way pricier but I guess it’s his big 3, so I would want to make it memorable for him.

My friend, Smith introduced me to Yachtly.

The platform was pretty seamless to manoeuvre around, price ranges and what you are looking for.

I went ahead with Alaska 45.

It is a yacht suitable for 22 pax, but I catered it for 10 pax only.
Not many people were present, so 8 adults and 2 kids.

I added on the Jetski for hire – $180 and BBQ set rental $100.

The whole package – Rental $250 per hr, I rented it for 4 hours – $1000.

Total: $1569.

Heres what we had, I swear it was too much for 10pax, you can alternatively have it as a 12 -15 pax party, it should be suffice.

HEY GUYS!!!

Finally got the time to do this blog post on my experience on my intra-lase procedure done with Shinagawa Eye Centre.

So…

Lasik is a procedure that I have wanted to do since a few years ago, I mean c’mon, how awesome it is to have perfect eyesight again?! How I got myself sucked into this whole spectacles bullshit was how I would guess, many of you would too – spectacles (rmb Miki kids or sth, photo ref below) looked pretty chio to me and it was like an IN thing to be a bespectacled primary school kid, so having a 6/6 eyesight was like mehhhh.

I recalled how happy I was when my eyesight started to turn for the worse, 6/9, 6/12, 6/36 on my health booklet for a yearly eyesight check LOL. I wore my sister’s spectacles on purpose (good lord! Parents reading this, please tell your kids to not do foolish things like this!!!)

 

Ok so back to my story on Lasik.

The reason why I didn’t do it that soon was because I was actually very into the whole big eye lens look. I am super not used to it without my lenses THOUGH the contact lens are not THAT drying, but I tend to wear them for more than 8hrs everyday? It is actually very harmful for our eyes btw, so do take note!!!

How is it possible to be out only for 8 hours? Isn’t it very inconvenient to bring a pair of spectacles out every time?

Another reason why was because the thought of going through another op scares me! I have done 2 DST procedures on my eyes already btw!!!

My friend went to Shinagawa to have her Lasik done, so I decided to go for the pre-Lasik assessment first.

It cost $22 btw!

The whole assessment took about an hour?

& Note that before the assessment, pls stop wearing your lenses for at least 3 days (if yours is the myopic one), for me I stopped lenses for 5 days cause I was very kiasu.

My first assessment with another clinic, I didn’t stop till 2 days before and they didn’t allow me to go forth with the surgery so I guess it is the lenses that caused some weird shape on my cornea?

Staff were very patient with me because some of the machines are super hard to work with – I was required to have my eyes wide opened and because my eyes were very dry I kept having the urge to blink.

& Oh ya! Rmb to have your eyelash extensions removed before the assessment and procedure ya?!

After the assessment, I went to meet Dr Lee for the first time.

He was super friendly and knowledgeable about his stuff, gave me a very detailed explanation on the different procedures and such. He had this one concern with my eyes that he couldn’t give me a 100% green light with the procedure – I have a small cataract on my left eye and the computer might have problems detecting the middle of my pupil for the laser.

WTS right!! Cataract at the age of 26?! Apparently it might be genetic.

I have to admit that my heart sank a little because it is not a 100% that I can do the procedure, but he told me that it was because my cornea was really small and he needs to make sure that with my current eye power, the computer is able to scope in and give me the correct laser surface area to correct the eye power. All these have to be determined on the actual procedure day.

It could be a bummer because, imagine having to prepare for the surgery and all, be in scrubs, lying down on the surgery chair and then doctor will break the bad news to you and say that my eyes are not suitable for the surgery because the computer’s crossfire couldn’t get an accurate map on my pupil.

But I went ahead to book for my surgery date, feeling really hopeful.

So the night before my procedure, I was tossing and turning in bed. I was face timing my bf and I kept asking him for assurance that it wont hurt the slightest bit. He did his intra-lase a few years ago, so he is the best person to assure me right!

On the D-Day, I went thru another eye-assessment before preparing for the surgery.

Was really glad that Dr Lee gave me the green light for the intra-lase and we proceeded with it immediately.

There is two parts of the procedure,

1) the cutting of the flap

2) the laser

Trust me when I say this, zero pain!!!

It does sounded scary, the laser sound and the burnt smell caused by the machine, but dun worry, your eyes are not gonna get fried!

After the surgery, the nurse brought me to a resting room to have my eyes checked and also sterile eye drops administered.

My eyes didn’t hurt at all, just a slight blurry yet functional vision.

 

I had a small little blood clot on the white of my eye. This did not cause me any pain and did not block my vision and it went away after several weeks. I learnt that half the patients get this blood clot and all of them goes away with time, leaving no trace behind. So don’t worry if you get a little blood clot too.

However, I made a stupid mistake on the 2nd day after my surgery by not taking extra care while cleansing my face.

The cleanser seeped into my eyes and it caused a lot of pain!

 

If you were to take a closer look, there are two white dots on my cornea!

I went back to see Dr Lee urgently the next day because the pain couldn’t go away (by right the standard consultation is only on 2nd day of the procedure, 1 week later and 1 mth later). That immense pressure on my eyeball was too tortuous and I can only blame myself for that stubbornness and carelessness.

Dr Lee told me that the cleanser had caused some inflammation on my cornea and that it could potentially cause problems to my eyesight, so please, if you are reading this… please….

Daily visits to Shinagawa for that whole week was pretty taxing not only on the money part but it really drained me as I was feel very worried myself.

Thankfully Dr Lee told me that the infection didn’t cause any major problems so I had to guai guai administer my medicine.

He eventually cleared me on my 2nd week after the surgery, and thk god my eyes are still perfect.

I got to watch Ed Sheeran with my PERFECT eyesight and listened to him serenade with his guitar perfectly singing PERFECT and ending off this perfect date with my boyfriend HEHE!

 

& also got to celebrate my 26th birthday with my perfect eyesight!!!

Best decision ever I swear!!!

Still feeling really happy that I made this decision to go for this intra-lase surgery. Never take your eyesight for granted folks!

My eyes, not as dry as when I have contact lenses on! In fact, I dun feel the dryness getting worse; it has been 3 months since I did my Lasik?

Note that 1:40 I mentioned that my eyes are 6/4.5, but it is 6/7.5!!!

Was super stoked when I received an invitation from Dore Clinic and Dore Aesthetics to experience their aesthetic treatments in their establishment, so I made an appointment to head down and check out what options are there available for me.

 

My first impression of the clinic – was awed by their super brightly lit clinic interiors, not forgetting to mention, spacious too like what the other Dore Aesthetics reviews are describing too.

 

Did a short tour around the clinic and went for my consultation with the friendly staff thereafter.

The staff went thru the treatments available at their clinic, listing out a few right down below:

 

• Acne Scar Removal
• Acne Treatment
• Face Whitening
• Pigment Removal

 

After the consultation and checks on my skin, having no acne problems, the consultant recommended me to opt for the face whitening/ pigment removal treatment, as there was a tiny pigment on my left cheek. Good lord, I never knew I had that, I am guessing it was developed only recently.

I was told that pigmentations could occur even though I diligently slapped on sunblock due to family history, well, my aunties do have pigment problems so that probably explains?

After addressing my questions and concerns, I was brought to the treatment room to have my skin prepped for my Face Whitening treatment.

 

 

 

After which, I went ahead with my treatment.

Do note that this treatment has to be administered strictly by a certified professional, no tom dick or harry can do this job okay. Pretty sure no one wants any of such treatments to be done anyhow and ended up with a botched job done. This is why in Dore; only the trained and certified can do the treatments for you.

Admittedly, I was slightly nervous when it comes to any treatments. Mentioned it a couple of times that I have a very low threshold for pain, so this explains the jitters.

 

 

 

Note:

 

This treatment is totally painless, it felt like tiny ants crawling on my face, or maybe on areas like my under eye, it will be slightly sensitive. But don’t worry, the sensation was really bearable.

 

Do not be alarmed when you smell something burning, your skin is not gonna be chao ta or sth. It is normal!!! Rmb, these people are trained and certified.

 

I was also given a laser prep on my hands before the treatment started to let me have a rough feel on how the treatment is gonna feel like.

 

After the laser treatment, they gave me a moisturizing LED cooling mask to calm the redness down.

To be honest, I didn’t experience much redness. I was told that there will be slight redness on my skin after the treatment, but that will be for a short period of time – 10-15mins?

 

Moisturizing mask slathered on. It feels super cooling and I feel relaxed too.

 

 

& the LED activator was used to treat and rejuvenate my skin right after the laser treatment.

All in all the treatment took about less than an hour?

This Face Whitening treatment is pain-less, no downtime and it does helps the skin to even out the skin tone, in the process of lightening our dark spots.

 

Here is a collage of my face over the course of 1 week right after the laser.

The effects will come slowly after, and over the course of a few treatments. However, for me it is just an one-off treatment and it did showed results.

 

Note that I didn’t edit or adjust anything from these photos to prove accuracy of my Dore Clinic and Dore Aesthetics reviews.

 

The dark spot that remained constant was actually my mole, focus on the tiny brown dot that disappeared 1 week later.

 

Pretty amazing results yield I would say!

It has been so long since I did a facial and I am honoured to be working with Annabelle Skin for this collaboration, super glad I did though.

Remember my first ever IG story snap with Annabelle Skin? (If you guys watched it) I commented that I just had the best facial of my entire life and my skin never felt so clean.

 

Why did I say this? Well, it is because I love how customized the treatments were for me and I know that it is the good stuff (Dr Belter products are made from Germany) they used on my skin that helps improve my skin condition.

Everyone received different facial treatments because what might work for you might not work for me, hence I would really recommend you guys to try out Annabelle Skin!

My very first session, the lady boss did a skin analysis for me.

She pointed out that my skin could be a little thin on certain areas, below my eyes and on my forehead, hence I would need to take extra care of those areas.

I have tried Annabelle Skin’s treatments for about 3 mths.

Thoughts:

They never fail to rejuvenate my skin. My skin is getting pretty worn out through the long late nights even though I make it a point to stick to a strict skincare regime. Therefore, this facial treatment I am doing monthly is a good perk-me-up!

My makeup seems to stay longer on my skin than before, I guess a better and plump skin does make a difference when it comes to having makeup on too. My skin not only feels plumper, but it is incredibly smooth, I would say like a baby’s butt. HAHA! Wish I could let u all feel it, but nope hahah!

& Also, as you can tell, my skin really glows after the facial treatment, a classic example of it as shown right down below in my picture, which I took right after the facial!

 

My favourite part of this PhysioMarine Caviar Treatment?

The PhysioMarine Caviar Balance mask.

It left my skin soft and bouncy!

The whole masking treatment took about 15mins, there about, and the soothing mask cream comes with a light comforting scent. I am not sure how to describe the scent, but it definitely helps me relax and unwind from the entire hustle bustle I face everyday. So comforting that I fell asleep LOL! I guess facial is always a good time to have a short snooze in between.

Other than the masking, I’ve tried their Eye Gua Sha because Shirley, the laoban niang mentioned that my eyes looked really puffy.

She is definitely right because I am always having a lack of sleep. The Gua Sha is supposed to help de-puff my tired eyes.

During the treatment, it may sound really scary because gua shas are never painless. Surprisingly, it was comforting!!! Like an eye massage kind of comfort? I felt zero pain, in fact my eyes really looked less puffy after the treatment!!! No eyebags!!! & btw, I swear I didn’t edit the eyebags off my picture (the one below).

Glowing skin, checked.

Smooth skin, checked.

So if you have puffy eyes like me, do the eye guasha!!! Swear it works, n not pain one!!!

One of the products I would love to share with you guys is this Aqua Silk Serum from Dr Belter’s BioClassica range.

 

 

I have been using it for the past 1 month ever since they gave this bottle to me.

The texture is light, if you know me well, I hate putting on heavy and oily products on my skin.

This serum is used on my skin before moisturizing and after toning. It helps to lock in the moisturizer better and also adds on more hyaluronic acid, leaving my skin super refreshed and refined. Can’t find a better serum than this so far!!! I do see myself using this product on a daily basis from now on.

I always believe in a strict skincare regime, having monthly facial does not mean you can neglect your skin on a daily basis okay! Do take note!!!

 

 

& not forgetting to mention, my skin is visibly glowing.

It gives me the confidence to go out without makeup.

The best kind of makeup is being confident. I believe that having good flawless skin gives me the confidence I need.

Stella & Chewy is a brand that I have been meaning to let Fifi try, be it food or treats because my dog parent friends have been telling me soon much about it. However, you can’t find it in a lot of places in Singapore. SO GLAD THAT HealthyPets CARRIES THIS BRAND!!!!
Why switching from kibbles to freeze dried raw diet?

Was alternating between Orijen and Merrick for Fifi previously, but Fifi is still growing fatter as the days go by. This can be super worrying because obesity for dogs, esp for a small tiny dog for her will be an issue in future – heart problems, leg problems etc etc. even the vet kinda warned me to watch her diet. BUT I DIDNT FEED HER EXTRA deliberately, suspected it was from kibbles. Most of my friends suggested that I switch to freeze dried raw, so I did!!!

Freeze Dried Raw diets is recommended because their food is not as processed as how kibbles are. Many of them told me they saw a healthy weight loss, so I am definitely taking this chance to do so!

 

Fifi loves her meal times, but she loves it even more now because SHE LOVES THE FOOD! It smells bit too fishy for me, but this shows that the food is the REAL DEAL. Cod and Salmon leh, literally freeze dried!!!

She ends off the meal by licking the whole food bowl after. So cute haha!!!

 

However, one disadvantages of a freeze dried diet that I have identified would be the preparation.

For kibbles it is super easy, just scoop and pour into the bowl. Freeze dried requires warm water to rehydrate the food. But for the health of our dogs, why not right?

Use a fork/spoon to stir the water with the food to make sure all of it is hydrated.

Always doing everything and anything for food ah this one haha!

Another brand to recommend, which I have ordered for Fifi to try is Primal. Primal is a brand recommended by most!!! Cant wait to let Fifi try it! Next, if your dog is behaving well or have performed tricks, positive reinforcement is always encouraged – TREATS!

Treats are always perceived as unhealthy. BUT! Stella and Chewys contains no artificial flavourings, antibiotics and all the harmful chemicals, JUST PURE MEAT, but less messy because its in a compact treat form.

Fifi loves it!!!!

Last but not least, maintaining her fur.

White dogs aren’t the easiest to maintain when it comes to their fur.

It gets dirty easily!!!!

Healthypets sent me a shampoo and conditioner than she recommended to me for malteses/white dogs.

 

After a walk, Fifi has super dirty paws and it is visible because of the white fur. THIS IS WHY, I have to shower her whenever I walk her, because wiping her is not enough.

Mix with water to bubble up the shampoo!!! This is good cause it curbs me from wasting shampoo, I SPAM SHAMPOO every time I shower her because she is always super dirty.

 

Looking so pathetic, she hates showers!!!

 

Verdict:

• Does what it promises – cleans/ smells good
• No skin allergy so far for Fifi
• Adds Volume, fifi looks super fluffy after her shower
• Other shampoo brands (can’t mention what) makes my hand peel, which means it is bad cause too much harsh chemicals, BUT THIS SHAMPOO doesn’t!!! Rejoice!!!!

 

We all are always concerned about our pets and always want the best for them. Our pets are like our babies right!!!

I am sure you can find something you need on Healthypets because this online pet store is owned by a dog lover herself, so she knows her stuff well and I am sure we can trust her recommendations on what is good and how to do our best to keep our pets healthy!!!
